I had an Escort fail on a slight bit of play in the rack a few years back.
I fitted a recon unit & boy did it have some play in it. ( much worse than the original that I had exchanged )

Upon re-test the examiner was going to fail it. I explained that this was a major brand, refurb rack. As such would have been quality tested to meet the prescribed standard.

He went to get the senior tester, he looked at the rack & said it was " Just within limits "  WTF. It was dreadfull compared to the original.

When asked why the original had failed he said he could'nt comment as he had not done the original test.

Needles to say, that was the last test they done for me. Their loss, I was doing between 30 - 40 tests per year at that time. ;)

as an ex mini maniac
you are a tease
i can own up to having a 1340 mini (chris inch special) in my youth
always fancied doin a proper mini job though
i always liked the look of the groundhog bodykit just could never afford it as a youth
TJ is hankering at doin a mini for himself
after the roadster is done
all we need is a cheap mini as a starter
cheers les g

No such thing as a cheap Mini these days though...better off having a 'glass one so never have to weld it every year for the mot:D

Mini's look and handle better with no arches and 10" wheels that don't stick out:)
