OK, if anyone has seen the discussions on the Locostbuilders forum then they will know there is a long running discussion about the pros and cons of using round tube in the chassis. And I am not about to start that same discussion again.

But has anyone built a Roadster with round steel tube? If so what sizes have you used in what rails?

A simple swap from 1" square 16swg to 1" round 16swg will save about 25%. Or even giong up to 30mm tube in certain critical areas and 1" or even 3/4" in other areas (triangulation) should see a healthy saving.

As in my other thread in the 'engine' section, I am looking to reduce as much weight as possible. And I am aware of the possible 'pitfalls' of using round tube.
