View Full Version : Rear brake flexy mounts

I`ve almost got around to fitting the rear brake pipes from the wheel cylinder to the flexy.
Is there some bracket I have to make to secure the end of the flexy/start of the metal pipe (from the cylinder) on the rear upright? I can`t find any mention of it in the book, but there is a vague photo of the rear tub & alloy bodywork which shows it.
Has anyone got a photo of what they have done?

I don't think it really matters where you put it, as long as the pipe reaches
with plenty of slack, and don't foul when the suspension moves.

Thanks David, but what I mean is this: I`ll try to make it a bit clearer.
The wheel cylinder has, I think, a metal pipe coming out of it, this goes to the flexy pipe, which then goes to the bkts you have highlighted, but how is the metal pipe out of the cylinder secured where it meets the flexy, in other words the other end of the flexy from your bkts? OR does your flexy go straight into the wheel cylinder, like say a mk5 Escort?,, Dennis

Now I get it.....:D

I used flexi from the brake cylinder to the bracket.
Mind you I did need to get pipes with banjo fittings to the cylinder.
so it cleares the upright.

I would say if you are using pipe then yes you do need a bracket somewere.
I seem to remember there was a thread about it a while ago.


Oh bugger....just thought it probably gon after the hack!!!:mad:

Again thinking about it.
A bracket anywere on the upright should be ok.
as long as it still clears the suspension.

Thanks David & Adrian, I think I`ll make some type of bracket, there is a vague picture on p 92 where you can see a bracket similar to the one you welded on Adrian.
