did you also take the following....

wheels & wheel nuts ( for build wheels)
gearbox mounting rubber
engine mounting rubbers
propshaft ( can be sold on ebay as MK indy builders need them)
steering rack ( same reason as above )
the rad fan (can be re used if shroud is cut down )
brake switch

Have you thought about -

battery (useful for electrolysis :p )
Speedo and clutch cables
Brake pipe fittings - just cut the pipe and slide off
Identity numbers if you are going age related plate
Exhaust manifold and exhaust - you might be able to mod
Diff to prop bolts

And if you want luxury a sierra front seat makes a very comfy workshop chair!

Also:

As David M said, the vin plate and the chassis plate.
Seatbelt bolts,
Diff long bolts,
All the bulbs, always usefull as spares.
Fuel tank sender.
Gearbox cross member.
If you don't want to keep the rad, keep the rad fan switch.

If you kept the chassis plate but forgot to cut the vin stamp out. Then scrapped the car would you still be able to get the age related plates?

I'll give this one a bit of a bash

When it comes to registering your build, you'll be in the hands of your local DVLA office.
For some it has been an easy ride, for others it has been a nightmare !!

If you have the donors V5 in your name you should be OK ;)

I accidently left the vin number stamped in the floor on my first donors shell.

The scrapyard had agreed to take it in as scrap metal. Unfortunately for me, some jobsworth ran it through the DVLA computer & I was unable to get the V5 put into my name :(

Lucky that another cheap donor turned up & I now have a V5 in my name :)

So if I have the VIN plate (the one from the bonnet slam panel) and a V5 in my name I'm cool... I too didn't cut out the VIN from the body ( )

Or am I in the hands of the DVLA???

I'll stick my neck out & say you should be ok unless your local DVLA officials are a bunch of anal twats

Most of the information they require will be on the V5

The best advice I can offer is to make sure you keep good build records, recipts in order & gather as much information as you can.

They'll be less likely to mess you about if you can demonstrate that you have a good working knowledge of the registration process ;) :)
