Firstly, this is not in the running gear section as this is NOT about an alternative wishbone design for the Roadster.

At the weekend I was looking at a wishbone from a Wolf F1 car from 1977 (I think it was a Scheckter car) and the wishbone construction was really interesting. Instead of tubes it was a pair of channel sections welded together. They start off with a flat plate in the rough shape of a finished wishbone. But as its flat its then laid over an alloy former. The ends are then peened over to form the sides, all the way round. Make two of these and then TIG them together. All bushes are set into the two plates and TIG'ed in place.

Overall a nice looking wishbone design.

Certainly not for the novice to produce, tubes are much easier to use.

If I get chance I will try and load a photo later as trying to describe it is quite hard.

Not as hard as trying to turn the description into a visualisation :p

I knew exactly whatyou were talking about, the only down side would be the cost of them, not a problem if you're doing it at home at your own pace.

Kind regards
