I believe (and i stand to be corrected) that there is a rule governing being able to change the speedo function.

ie. it should not be possible for you to change the diplay of the speedo to anything else.

A few people failed SVA for this on LB. It is remedied by fitting some sort of cover over one of the buttons. I think the Vapor ATV dash was the most commonly used variant

thanks for the reply does it have to be a permanent cover or can it be a bit of plastic held on with blu tack

Sean is correct & the cover needs to appear as if its not going to fall off on the way home from the IVA test ;)

some builders have put a strip of ali over the buttons & bent it back behind the dash panel, then for some strange reason it looks permanent but does seem to fall off.

I was looking at these ones myself -

http://youraccount.ekmpowershop9.com/ekmps/shops/vmaxbitz/digi-dark-speedometer-9-p.asp

No buttons on the front, but you can install one of the buttons as a remote unit. There are quite a few instructions for the different units here - http://www.digitalspeedos.co.uk/digital_gauges.htm

They look really good and would go well with a set of savage switches/lights.

That's what I thought hence my plan is to get a set of these for my car when the time comes. They also work out quite cost effective at around £140 for the pair if you shop around. Combine that with some nice lights and I think it will look pretty bling!! I was thinking about one of those T-shaped light clusters between/above the pair of gauges.

One thing I did pick up on is that the fuel gauge section is designed to work with either 100 or 510 ohm fuel gauges as found on bikes. However the sierra one is 260ohm - I can't see a reason why with a resistor in parallel, you wouldn't be able to drop the resistance to the 100ohm and still be able to use the original sender unit

For the temp sender you even get one included with the gauge according to the spec!

Does it record the mileage on the speedo as this is a requirement for the IVA.

Looking at the technical installation PDF file (http://www.digitalspeedos.co.uk/digispeed.pdf) it staes it has an Odometer (0-99999 km/miles) and a trip meter (0-999.9km/miles) So from that I would read it as being a yes.

Bugger - think I shot myself in the foot here and now everyone is going to have really nice gauges before I do :p

I also found this while researching them - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n04-IrqrB50&feature=related

Also if you have a look around I think you can get them cheaper - I found them somewhere about £10 per unit cheaper, but can't remember where :o
