Hi all, quick couple of questions before i order some metal.

What thickness and grade ally have people been using for the bonnet?
what are you using to form it around for the correct rads?
And what are you using to rest it on so it lies flush with the nose and scuttle, seems to need lifting alot at the scuttle end to make it flush?

Chears
quick reply would be great so i can order some metal today so i can get it this week since im planning on putting it on the booth for etch and primer this weekend.

Thanks again

Hi Tilly. For my locost bonnet i used 1.2mm grade 1050 from asc metals in Peterborough. As a former i used a length of plastic soil pipe 150 dia. 25mm sponge rubbery foam from RS comp.

I did the sams as Mike.

Just take your time, bend fit bend fit bend ..etc etc:rolleyes:

I used some draught excluder on the nosecone and scuttle.
Then some u trim on the bonnet edges to get the correct height.

I bent mine back.
makes a nice flat edge for the bonet to sit on the rails

The joggle bit on both the nosecone and scuttle was made to suit neoprene foamy stuff that came from Trident racing supplies at Silverstone circuit..off the top of my head it's half inch thick

Bending the bonnet? Can't remember if that was the lamp-post or gas cylinder!
Mine is folded 90 deg and it makes it a nice tight fit.
