Hello.

I have just started to build my third CealmSeven.
The first one is on the trailer and the second one is in front on this picture.
http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn41/cealm/CIMG4360300.jpg

Some other pictures of the two cars.
http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn41/cealm/CIMG4280300.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn41/cealm/DSC00988300.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn41/cealm/CIMG4276300.jpg

The first car is powered with a Volvo B230 engine and carweight is 850kg
The second one i powered with a Chevy 305 and carweight is 1280kg

On the same time as the third CealmSeven I am going to start building one or maybe to more CealmSeven cars. The third one is planned to have an electricengine as the mainpower source.

The new CealmSeven is a Gibbs-model
At first I planned it with a Volvo B230 engine, turbo, injection and a MegaSquirt. Now the plans seems to have changed to let the car be electrified with a ASEA 12kW 3-336Volt engine. The onbord batteries are 28 and the voltage on each batteri is 12Volt 48Ah. This will give a possible range of about 50 to 70 km. The car will be an 6x4 model.

It will not look exactly as this one but in that way and eletric not fuelpowered.

Hello AdrianH.
Yes it is a single 12kW with 28 batteries wich give you 336V.

The extra rearwheel is put the because I thougt it would be intresting to build 4x6 Seven. Yes it will scrub but in ordinary traffic that will be no big problem. I will also have a "boggie-lift-up-system" like you have on lorries for smoth turning in low speed. Parking for exampel.

Of course the extra wheels are doing a fine job to take care of the batteri weight. The batteries weight if it will be Optima YTR 3,7 yellow is about 460kg.

I have also planned to have an electricgenerator onbord so it is possible to charge "on fly".

One very important thing is that I hope I will get the electric equipment more or less for free. I have contact with a new company in Sweden and they were searching for preproduction-testcars. I contacted them and they thougt the idea I have was the right thing to carry on with. We have scheduled a talk on tuesday next week. I soon need to have the 12kW engine so all brackets kan be mounted for it.
But if there will bee som change for the economicpossibilty in "the free powersystem idea" I can always go back to the original plan with a Volvo 230 instead.

cealm
17th January 2010, 12:39 PM
In this case I will still have clutch and gearbox. The engine and controllers are standard equipment. To use standard will lower the costs and make it easier to repair if needed.

Adrian are you familiar with the Google language-tool that kan translate webpages from for example swedish to english?
Run this link in the Google tool http://www.elbilskonvertering.se/ and out you get quite good english, or at least you can understand the text.

Massive respect:)
Interesting project, I suspect that as you are building a third car that some psychiatric help may be in order.:D
Best of luck with it, I hope you keep us updated.

Enoch: --- a third car that some psychiatric help may be in order ---
Maybe that is a good idea. My mates in Sweden have learned about me for some time. Maybe it is them who have been needed the help .......

Well Enoch, thank you for your support. And Janne E nice to see you here in the thread also.

The electric Seven is the third car I am building. I have two more car projects going at the same time. A special rig is now in place for welding the frame. If I start with a new Seven car or if I start with an CealmSeven Cobra that is at the moment not decided. All the materiel to a number four Seven i in the garage. The CealmSeven Cobra materiel is not at home this moment.

Some pictures from today. It is warm now, just about minus 4 C so there is no problem at all to work outside. By the way I can mention that I started the number 2 car with V8 engine. It started att the first try.

The special rig.

The smallest Sevencar I ever had. A jigsawpuzzle. Is it this one I shall start with as car number four?

AdrianH: That is correct that this car is "consuming electricity" and also that Seven cars is not so good in the aerodynamic arena.

One thing this car is good at is to make people look at the powertrain the electric powertrain. It is PR that is one of the main goals. PR building it for the company and PR to show it that it works. By the way as my mates in Sweden very well knows is that I am not running my cars on track. My normal speed is between 0 to 70 km/h. In that range the car will not use som much energi.

If the 6x4 car i too "hungry" of the batteries then I can change the powertrain and flip it to the "jigsaw-puzzle" on the photo. It is also because of that I start build number four CealmSeven.

I used to work for a Swedish company, they were called Satt Control. I was working on a project once with a guy from our Swedish office. Anyway, we were expecting a visit from the managing director of our partner company - BT Rolatruc. I thought I would impress him so I asked this guy how to greet somebody in Swedish. I practiced until I had it perfect - the big day arrived, I shook the guys hand and said in perfect Swedish "Jevlar huite" ( not sure of the spelling). I was never asked to meet anybody important ever again:(
Sorry to the non swedish speakers. :)

cealm
17th January 2010, 09:07 PM
Enoch: That was not nice done from the guy. I knew what it means even if you spelling is not so good. You can forget the words you normally dont need them at all. Ok, maybe maybe if you by accident hit yourself with a hammer or so ..... but just maybe.

Enoch
18th January 2010, 08:43 AM
It was quite funny, actually. As I said it I saw the guy that told me to say it trying to leave the room but he was laughing so much he could hardly walk. I found out what it meant later:)

Today I start to build the number four car also. It was the best way for me to bulid two cars at the same time. This number four is ordinary 4 wheel Seven. Nothing special at all. Just to build.

By the way this i a "measuring-engine-on-12k-paper-W". Made a 1:1 model so it is easy to exactly se the size in the frame.

Thank you aerosam. I am in a hurry to get the frame and also the car on wheels. Today or more like tonight I will go out to the garage and do a bit of welding.

Tomorrow I hope to finish the rear part of the frame.

How far have you come with you car project? Frame, engine, IRS?

Caelm a question, how easy is it to get a registration in Sweden on your own build car? Here in Holland it is very hard almost impossible and very expensive.
A regestration will cost over 1000 euro overhere.

cealm
22nd January 2010, 10:22 PM
Hello teun. The legal stuff costs about the same here, 800 to 1000 euro.

Personaly I think it is easy to build a car and get the registrationplates. The rules för build car is our VVFS 2003:22 and nowdays I more or less knows every part of it.

Why is it so hard in Holland? Are there many specialrules you have or?

Hi Cealm, thanks for your reply. Please click the link at the bottom of my posts and my build blog will show you my progress. I try to upate every time I achieve a minor milestone but I think my build is going much slower than yours.

As you have done I have gone quite far away from Chris Gibbs plans to fit my own engine and running gear.

Godmorning. It now 06:00 (about) local time. I set the alarmclock at 5:50 now its time to go out welding the frame. That was the last thing I did yesterday and this will be the first thing today. The goal is to have the frame ready today.

Nice blog aerosam. And a special note for your fine "to do list" that must be the ultimate "whiteboard" or is it called "al-board"?

i like your steel build table jig too.

cealm
23rd January 2010, 08:39 AM
Hi HandyAndy. Thank you.

Yes the steel jig is very useful making frame cars. The next car, number five, will be an CelamSeven-Kobra. It will be a car with a monoque frame but also looks like a Seven. It will be possible to run the car just like a Seven and then only with metalsheet as bodywork. If I feel like it I can build a Cobra-replica "plastic-cover" and I have then a Kobra-car instead.

But for the moment I have two cars to finish before the CealmSeven-Kobra.

Maybe also the finsh my new steamcar. It is not read yet but the car is on wheels. The steamengine is not mounted yet but the boiler, a heavy one 400 kg, is on place.

To Seven first.

I have four thread om the swedish www.locostsweden.se forum
You can read them with Google translations tool.
Have you worked with that tool before?
This is the link to the first replay in the "Seven-eletric-thread"
Just cut and paste it into the line i Google for website translation
http://www.locostsweden.se/ipb/index.php?showtopic=6609&st=0

Ok I know you may have some fun when Google try to translate but it can give you quite a good idé of what I say in the thread.

Try the tool, and tell me if Google is doing "a good job" to help you understand Swedish.

By the way I have now four cars on "production".

You know that the "Seven-replica" does not mean a sort or type of car. Iit is the number of cars. Nothing else. When I have Seven-cars then I dont know what to do, maybe number Eight......

To be honest. May first two cars was built at 1973 and 1975. So 2 + 4 + 2 equals Eight. A problem for me or?.....

Hello teun. This one have been mounted in a special testproject back in the early 80's. It was our Telecom company (at that time named Televerket) who made a conversin to eletric-drive on a Mercedes 307 bus and some other cars. This is one of these motors.
