View Full Version : Will I fit: footwell length and driver height?

My first proper post so bare with me.

I'm concerned about building the chassis them finding I don't fit or it's an uncomfortable squeeze.

On my trawls round this forum over the last year or so, I remember a few mentions of driver height and chassis dimensions.

I have tried to find them again with the search but have had no luck ( do others find the search a little primative, that is it has no ability to search for conbinations of words?)

So my question is: I'm 6' 2" (but not large round the middle), will I have plenty of room with a book built car and not be limited in the type of seat I fit.

Is it normal to fit the driver's seat on runners, so it is adjustable, so as my shorter wife will reach the pedals?

So maybe some of you taller members with reasonably advanced or finished cars could indicate if your heigth has caused any problems.

I was planning on having a chat with a few members at Stoneleigh and seeing if they'd kindly let me sit in their cars to see how the 'fit' is, but it looks like I will (hopefully) be well it to the chassis build by then.

Failing that anyone not too far from Bournemouth with an advnaced enough build I could visit for a 'fitting'.

Thanks.

Hi Steve
6’ 2” Will be ok in a roadster. there are members with finished cars over six feet.
Detling kit car show is in 4 weeks:D and that not so far from you.
I will be there in my roadster so you could have a try for size in that. My car has runners on roadster7 style seats so your wife could try too.

frankie boy,

I forgot about the Detling show, not sure if we will be able to get to it. Thanks for your kind offer for a 'fitting'. Can I pm you (if we are going) nearer the date to arrange a met/be able to recognise you or your car?

Thanks,

eSteve

I think its down to how long your legs are as well as overall height

Im 6"4 and fit with seat all the way back, but i do have a 36" inside leg. I wouldnt be comfortable if they were any longer

Spud is a few inches taller than me but still fits so he must have a long body or i must have long legs :D
