I don't have access to my triton rear arches at the mo cos a friend repairing them. Can someone tell me the width the arch sits out from the car. I know Ash has some probs with light positions due to the rear arches being the widest part of the car and want to ensure the fixing of my parts do not fall for the same fate!

the rear arches are 11.5inch. I didn't fail on light positions they were all fine. i failed on the type of light I used. It was unknown to me at the time of purchase. but the indicator used wasn't a proper side indicator, it was an orange side marker light that they use down the side of lorries and vans etc.

the side marker could be seen by looking straight on at it, but you couldn't see it from in front or behind

Sorry Ash, I wasn't referring to the IVA, I was talking about the front indicator extensions from the CKC article. Dedicated reader me :D

The rear arches are the widest point on the chassis. The IVA sets distances for light positions off the widest point on the chassis. So the light position has to be taken from the rear arches to comply with the IVA.

what i can say is that he did check them!!

he hung a plumb line from the top of the wheel arch on both sides then marked the floor. he moved the car forward then measured between the marks. that gave him the widest measurement. he then did the same on the front and side indicators and worked out if the totals were more than 800mm lower than the widest point measurement.

what i will tell you is that my front indicators were 10mm further out than the minimum so they were ok. :D
