Good question my friend,

Thinking out loud, all comments and thoughts gratefully received at Stoneleigh.

Once we have covered all costs (posting of items won by people who buy a ticket on the forum that can’t make it to Stoneleigh)

We could vote on Sunday evening or take suggestions all weekend.

Don’t know is the short answer.

Cheers Ginge

PS what TT said forgot we mentioned that earlier

As I started the thread regarding the forming of "The club" I was going to suggest that we have an informal meeting at stoneleigh to highlight suggestions/idea,s etc of the purpose of the club, possible nominee,s to the forming of a committee, then to create a thread so that all forum members that are not at the show get info thru this forum ( whilst we are still at the show), so that as much as possible every member is informed of what is being discussed.
I have been writing some notes with regard a few discussions that i,d like to "bring up" at a meeting at the show over the weekend.
I trust this will be acceptable to all?

Once we have elected a committee ( thru discussions at stoneleigh & info posted on the forum with enough time given for any forum members to make comment) we can then start the next stage of forming the Official club,

ps...ideally this post should be on the other "club" thread but thought it was relevant here also.

That made me laugh out loud.
Coz it's soooo true. you're an old fart Andy.

Try this though....
Ash came round for a visit last night.
We were talking about a guy that does the rolling road near us.
Ash said he knows his stuff. he's been doing it all his life.
He's "Your age" he said to me......Hmmmm I thought.
Then Ash said ...."He's been doing it since he was my age"
Little B****rd...you ain't funny

Mind you we had a run out in his car after.
It's a super nice car, no wonder he's proud of it.
So all forgiven mate. For the mo........;)

Is it a ticket is drawn and the winner picks a prize.

Or is it a prize selected and the ticket drawn..

I prefere the latter type, especialy as some of us will not be there.

TT,

Your question popped into my head last night.

I think the fairest way to do it, as some people will not be there, is to draw the raffle and the prizes are allocated in the order that they appear on the list below.

Rapid Prototype Miniature Haynes Roadster Chassis – John Marchant
Full set of camber adjuster lock nuts and rear camber adjusters – Bonzo (Ronnie)

Wow, if every ‘active’ member of the forum bought a raffle ticket the club to be would have £268 to get us started. :D

Not withstanding those upstanding members who have already purchased a ticket or two, and I know lots of you will be purchasing them at the show.

Just a thought!

Would be fantastic to know the real number of Roadster builds out there :)

Great start guys, I'll be buying my tickets at the show and I'll get me thinking cap on for a prize to donate, sadly not much of my business is related to sports cars so it'd be difficult to donate anything useful, still I'm sure I can come up with something.

In edit: okay guys I've got it, how's about a CTEK XS3600 battery charger worth around £50.

Hi Ginge, no problem mate. You can stick it on the list but my stock controller (read wife:p ) has just told me we're waiting for them to come in so all I can say is that if whoever wins it contacts me with their address details then as soon as we have them I'll send it out.

I can't make it to the show this year (bloody uni exams making me revise :() but I would like to buy five tickets. I'll sort out the Pay Pal bit later this afternoon.

I also thought about having a prize specially for non-forum/club members to entice them into building a Haynes Roadster and joining the forum/club. I'm willing to donate my copy of the Haynes Roadster book :) .

It's in as new condition (no grubby finger marks or bent pages etc). Only problem is that because I can't make it to the show someone will have to collect it (I live in Coventry, about 15 minutes away from the show depending on traffic).

gingea1pom
30th April 2010, 09:21 AM
DStanley1809,

I will look out for your payment later on.

I/we appreciate your offer of donation, however I will not be cutting about the show hassling non roadster types to purchase a ticket, to that end 99.9% of people who buy a ticket will already have the book.

Please don’t get me wrong your offer is most appreciated but I would prefer to give the book to an interested party at the show. If Exeter is anything to go buy there will be lots of interest over the weekend.

Hope this is OK.

Cheers Ginge

gingea1pom

Club stand, what club stand we haven’t got a club yet, just a collection of like minded forum members meeting at Stonelegh.

The raffle only came about because John donated his fantastic miniature chassis to raise some funds to get a club up and running. Since then many forum members have been most generous (I am slightly overwhelmed by the generosity to be honest).

While I am jabbering on here is what is up for grabs:

Rapid Prototype Miniature Haynes Roadster Chassis – John Marchant
Full set of camber adjuster lock nuts and rear camber adjusters – Bonzo (Ronnie)
Roadster vinyl decals – Slimtater
General purpose grease – LesG
Aeroscreen - AndyH
Set of three Clarky welding clamps (Item 040212840) – HandyAndy

BazR, I am sure I mentioned about contacting Enoch direct, he will give you a code to use on his web site.

TonnyM, PM me your address and I will get the welding sleeves off to you.

Finally a huge apology to BobbyH, by the time you PM’ed me on Saturday I was at the show. There are certain functions of the web site that do not work on my BlackBerry, who’s on line and Personal Messaging, so I did not get your PM, Sorry again there will be others.

Well done to everyone, prize donaters and ticket buyers alike. If whoever is going to have the CTEK charger would like to PM me once you've sorted out the details with Jimmy then I can send it out as soon as we get them back in stock. That money will make a great financial start to the new club, happy daze:D .

Hi ginge, well done on organizing the raffle, the first of many events to come I'm sure. I can't believe I've won a prize and amazing still I've won my own donation! would you credit it. What I suggest ginge is maybe you could hang on to the sleeves and maybe see if anyone needs some and raise some more cash.
A big thanks also for bringing my hoist up.
cheers

Guy's,

FYI.

You'll know I offered my prize for a club donation. Well it didn't quite work out that way, but it looks like the charger has turned into a roll bar. So the club will have a donation made by myself to Ginge and Davey knows who now owns the charger.

Hope that makes sense. Basically I'm happy with a roll bar, A.N. Other is getting the charger and the club is getting a little funds.

All for the greater good.

Hands up and confess time, I cocked up,

By using a combination of user names and real names I missed the fact that onedayTM (Tony) donated a set of welding sleeves and then won them back again.

Mental note to self use one or the other user names or real names.

Any way being the good chap he is, he has asked me to offer the sleeves up to the highest bidder. (well the highest bidder bit was my idea):D

Don’t feel obliged, I will let it run until this time’ish tomorrow, all money goes to the club to be, I will cover postage, if only one person offers a fiver that’s fine.

Please keep it all on the forum (until it’s finished).;)

Cheers Ginge

Handy,

You are welcome, I am glad it's proving useful.

The one I bought off MM is working well too although I shall have to install more memory, 128MB is just not enough to run XP properly. I've managed to get drivers installed for my old Belkin cardbus wifi adapter so its now got wireless network connection too. Its going to be really useful in the workshop once I get it sorted for diagnostic stuff. Cheers, MM.

Davey,

Depending on what you are using it for then 128mb of memory is enough. if you are just using it for workshop stuff try this first.

Click on the Start Button
Right click on "My Computer"
Click on Properties
On the windows that pops up click on the advanced tab at the top
Now click on the Settings button under the Performance heading
On the performance options window select the Visual effects tab at the top and then click the radio button that says Adjust for best performance.
Click on the advanced tab then at the bottom click on the Change button under the Virtual Memory Hadding
On the virtual Memory window make sure the radio button next to "System Managed Size is selected" then click the "Set" button to the right.
Click OK
Click OK to the message abut restarting the computer
Click OK on the Performance options Window
Click Ok on the System properties Window
Restart the computerThis will get rid of all the fancy look of Windows XP but will free up quite a lot of memory.

Cheers Keith but to be honest its just soooo slow even booting up and memory is still pretty cheap, I can put 1GB in it for less than £30 so it doesn't make sense not to really.
