Been to look at a possible donor tonight. Meeting the owner tomorrow. It's a "H" reg GLX. Anyone any idea what motor/box it'll have in it. Looks very tatty but it'll do. It's only 12 miles away and it's mine for a silly price if I want it.

Cheers Andy. I'm not too bothered as I plan to change as soon as IVA is done. As long as it's not a V6

what are you planning on installing at a later date?

I,m pretty sure that when my CVH goes bang I,ll be putting in a 2.0ltr Zetec on bike carbs & megajolt ;)

exhaust exits on the same side & uses the same engine mounts :)

If your possible donor has the MT75 box then this will make the drivers footwell space slightly smaller that if you have the Type 9 box.

cheers

2.0L zetec was my plan as well. Bike engine would be nice but waay too expensive.

1.8 CVH with Type 9

Or

2.0 DOHC ( Carb Or EFI ) with an MT75

I'll have to see tomorrow. Don't know which I'd prefer. Dropping my Focus off at Ford tomorrow morning . Might see if the parts lad will do a search for me.

I'm probably happier with that than the other option. Thanks.

Luckily a lad who did some welding for me recently has just bought a recovery truck so I'll be phoning him tomorrow.

Got an engine hoist for loan if you need one when it comes time to strip. I might even be able to give you a hand for a couple hours when the time comes :)

Went up today to have a bit better look and give the guy his cash. £85. Bargain.

Lifted the bonnet and.....................

It's a sodding diesel.

Ahhhh, thata was the other option but I thought you may have already susssed the petrol vs derv

still worth £85 just for the box, diff and running gear. Just buy a pinto or cvh from the bay

Is the box and diff same as petrol? If I did that and put in a motor from another car what are the chances of getting an age related plate?

Hmm I'd need a harness and ecu from a petrol jobby as well.

If your putting in a sierra petrol engine then the Harness/Ecu is easy.

Well the diesel's still standing there and I'm tempted. Is it only the engine I can't use?

Local garage owner told me of a sierra standing in a farmyard so I've been to look at it tonight. Spoke to the owner who told me it's a 2.9L 4x4. Guy just down the road reckons it's a Cossie but I don't know. Owner mentioned £500. Just 20 miles from Carlisle;)

I've had no luck so far finding a sierra. Rang the guy with the diesel yesterday and it's still there so I'm having it. Picking it up at 6.30 and dumping it on a mates farm to strip. So I'm now on the lookout for a pinto or cvh.
