Making my own bodywork

Hi all, just wanted to share some photos of the progress on my bodywork so far.I wanted to give making the bodywork a go & its going better than i expected , i havent worked with composites before but i have some good friends who gave me some pointers & i have realy enjoyed this alot. I have used plywood, PU foam, plaster & some divinicell i got for free from a local company that builds boats & then i just made the shapes of the scuttle & nosecone by looking at it from the front,side & top & when i was happy with the shapes i just put it all together & let the artist within me out:D . hope this helps anyone thinking of giving it a go.

Hats off to you mate ;) for going the whole hog and following the book to the letter ....not a lot of peeps are brave enough to even contemplate having a go at moulding the bodywork...... I is well impressed.

Thanks guys, I didnt think it would turn out this good & that i would enjoy it so much but i like learning new skills & working with composites has been great .

Something I would love to have a crack at but after the complaints I recieved from my neighbours when I put a GRP sealed deck in my boat, it just wouldn't be worth the hastle :rolleyes:

Personaly, I quite like the smell of polyester resin .... But then, I am a bit weird like that :D

I like a person who have balls to take on mission impossible. Very few have done that and do not know the amount of labor and effort it take to do that. Not to mention the cost, but such efforts are all about the satisfaction that you've done it yourself your way....

Im in the same boat; completed my front and rear fenders, nose cone (posted elsewhere) and just taken the mold off the scuttle plug yesterday and its curing now - shitty cold and wet weather since yesterday.
Still gotta do the bonnet though.

Thanks wynad, I have read your thread & you have done a great job . For my plugs I used some plywood that i filled with styrofoam & pu foam (divinicell is good to have but it works just fine without it) all very cheep & easy to work with, the hardest part was to get it all together in my head ,the angles, radius,hight.... once i had that figured out it was no problem at all so i made 1:1 skale drawings of all the sections wich i would like to scan & maybe share with others who want to have a go at it ,simply print cut & transfer to the plywood & you´re half way there:)
