i,m no good at playing the drums but i manage a tune on my old school recorder...lol
for fitting the 8valve dohc speak to axle (on hear) he has done it but its not the easiest fit.. as previously posted most 8valve dohc motors were in disc braked sierras and please beaware there are two types, solid and ventilated discs the ventilated were fitted on the more powerful variants xr,s and cossie,s etc and it was a popular swop to fit the bigger discs etc also the dohc sierras with abs had 260mm discs up front so there are endless possibilies of mix and matching your brakes to get your preference hth les g oh and as for the plenum poking through the bonnet i have seen pictures of one cut into three bits horizontally, the middle bit discarded and the upper and lower bits welded back together . it looked ok as well and worked ok so it can be done if bumps in your bonnet are not your thing |
Ventialted front disks were fitted to the Majority of Sierras, certainly most donors left arround will have Ventialted fronts. Normal in 260mm on 2.0 Cars.
Only Mk1 1.3, 1.6 would normaly have 240mm non vented disks. TT |

If you're going to stick a Zetec in it, why not do it now?
Knowing how much work goes into plumbing, wiring and exhausting whatever engine you fit, and replacing the bonnet you've cut a hole in, I wouldn't want to be swapping it out in a hurry. If you are using all of the bits from the donor, other than the engine, it won't be an issue with DVLA. I ditched the DOHC - they are tall and have you felt the weight of one? Neil |
zetec is not vastly lighter, and without proven age ( that it's realy early!) it will require an enhanced emissions test for the IVA.
It will also require the early NON pats ECU which are not cheap to find. The DOHC is probably more torquey, not usualy an advantage on a lightwight car mind... TT |
Mk5 Escort 1.8 Zetec engine - Pre 1994 ...... 1992 ideal ( non PATS ) ;) :)
Pre-Pats ECU Expensive .!!??..... Picked up a spare from the breakers today .... complete with the engine loom that I FUBARED on my Zetec engine :o All for the grand sum of £5  |
2.0 ones go for more on ebay. Probably a fair bit more rare..

On my Zetec (1993 Mondeo) the injectors subharness is totally crumbling to pieces, there's exposed oxidised copper at each injector plug. That's strange, because the Sierra's harness (6 years older) was in much better shape. |
