rob jones build thread
Well I've been building away for a little while now so I thought it was about time I let you lot have a look at what I've up to .
few pics more to follow. |
Few more this might take a while with a four photo limit.
|
|
Well done-you've been plugging away quietly .LOOKING REALLY GOOD :)
|
|
|
|
A few to start with if anyone can spot anything I've done wrong let me Know. Thanks for looking. |
Looks like a great build, obviously not short on equipment in the workshop!
|
I'm sure I saw a ghost:eek:
|
Looking really great. Good luck with it:)
|
Pinto's sound good on bike carbs ;)
Even better on TB's :) TT |
cheers for the coments everyone. Hopefully I've put the engine together properly but there's only one way to find out. What ghost Ayjay ?
|
Too many pics to quote.
He's wandering round in pic7 of this thread. :o |
I see what you mean. Its just a big sculpture of a barn owl. :D
|
Are you sure:eek: |
thats great i think i should try and sell that to the artist :D
|
Made a bit more progress. I thought I'd have a go a making a silencer.
|
There's a bit more work to do on it yet. I've got to make the hangers yet, and give it a coat of high heat paint. I'll pop up some more pics when it's finished. |
You is certainly taking a leaf out of my book ....why buy when you can make, good on yer bud;) ;)
|
Its mainly because I'm tight.:D
|
looking good love the way you used ratchet straps to roll the steel for the silencer.
little word of warning take your alternator bracket off and beef it up and triangulate it if you don't it will eventually give up and leave you stranded at the side of the road. guess how i found out :D |
cheers for the tip Ash I'll beef it up. I did start it off on the rollers but I couldn't get it tight enough so a little assistance was needed.
|
That is fantastic!
TT |
After the advice Ash gave me about the book spec alternator bracket not be up for the job i thought I'd beef it up a bit.
Also had a go at making a fuel. I started one in alloy but after reading about E10 fuel in the CKC mag and it not liking alloy I thought I'd have a go at a stainless one. So I raided the scrap bit a work. Well when I say scrap bin I mean the steel off the rack next to it. |
I tacked it together with the mig. Can you spot where I made a mistake and had patch some extra holes I cut. Added some baffles not very neatly though. |
Then I got the TIG out and welded in up.
Just hope my measuring was up to scratch and it fits the car. I've still got to add the fuel sender fuel feed and vent . Its not a light tank but it is very strong. |
|
nice to see you are still at it bud .....get stuck in:D
|
looking good there mate lots of pictures, where are you located.
Arfon |
And now you don't have to put up with headless Knights, bodyless horses and other wierd things.
Bet the garage does not look that pristine in 3 months. TT |
I'm hoping that I can keep it that way but somehow I think it won't. I'm sure the odd horses head might crop up now and again. I live in Bromborough on the wirral Arf.
|
Your not far from Ayjay and my-self then
Arfon |
I've not been up this way to long. Still getting used to the area.Where are you two based.
|
Check out the map in my sig, add yourself to the thread if you like.
|
Hi Rob,
Ayjay and I are based in Wrexham, not that far from you Arfon |
Quote:
Excuse me I live in Coedpoeth-I am a hillbilly not a swampy  |
See, the air is that thin up there that when he drives down to normal altitude he has to adjust the fuel mixture so that the car can run on thicker air
Arfon |
Rob,
I have just looked on AA route planner and you are 26 miles away 39 mins travelling time kind regards Arfon |
A few of my mates live in Wrexham and used to take my fiat to all italia garage just outside ceodpoeth, in fact it probably spent more time there than at mine.
Cheers Arfon |
