i,m using the 1.8 cvh that came with my donor, tho i,m sure it,ll go bang in time for winter ;)

i,m being like a boy scout " be prepared" & so i,m collecting the bits i,ll need to rectify the above problem , bike carbs, megajolt & an engine that starts with a Z :D
& fitting a prop capable of more than the cvh can give;)

cheers
andy

deezee 11th February 2010 11:48 AM

|I'm using a Escort RS2000 16v. Which is virtually the same as the Sierra DOHC but has a tuned head for that extra 50bhp :D

Peter-C 11th February 2010 12:04 PM

I4 8V = 125 BHP ( cat version arroun 118 for comparison )
I4 2.0 16V RS2K = 150BHP
I4 2.0 16V = 134BHP
I4 2.3 16V = 144BHP

:D Think your right, maybe another 30bhp is a little more on the realistic side of things.

Tatey 11th February 2010 01:13 PM

I'll be going for a 1.8 CVH with bike carbs + megajolt from the start. It will be getting a full rebuild in the next few months once I have the chassis rolling.

AndyLockwood 11th February 2010 01:46 PM

im using a 1.8 zetec with the original 130bhp ecu and an aftermarket plenum.

cheers

Andy

baz-r 11th February 2010 04:22 PM

im keeping my options open at the moment but somthing tells me it will be a zetec 2.0 from the power to cost of install

theres loads of good motors that could be used i quiet fancy a rover k (light) or redtop if a cheep bell housing comes up.

Davey 11th February 2010 04:57 PM

2.9 24 valve Cosworth V6 here.

D.

GraemeWebb 11th February 2010 05:10 PM

2.1 Pinto to replace a 2.1 Pinto that i killed, then i will rebuild the original 2.1 Pinto. Current build has Cosworth rods, V6 pistons, 10.6 to 1 comp and a new Kent RL31 cam.
Emissions are 3.5 CO and 1200 ppm HC on my V5 so anything i put in should pass MOT

mr-p 11th February 2010 07:15 PM

I shall be using the fine lump of metal that is the 8v DOHC...what a beast.

Have been thrashing the missus 2.0 Mondy around this week as I am off work & imagining what it would feel like with half the weight:D The fat old thing likes to rev she does.

mdasseville 11th February 2010 08:44 PM

Simon_K 15th February 2010 11:18 AM

DOHC 8v that came with the donor, but I have a 1.6 Zetec JIC. Would prefer the age related plate though.

XR4BILL 15th February 2010 06:28 PM

2.3L Ford Pinto, Turbo engine.

cheers,
Bill.

twinturbo 15th February 2010 08:04 PM

Now... is it a Pinto or is it a Lima??

TT

XR4BILL 16th February 2010 05:14 AM

Sorry! my mistake. Its the 2.3 lima. Thats the Brit coming out of me I guess.

twinturbo 16th February 2010 07:22 AM

I think peeps often call it as pinto as it looks quite similar but aparently has very few common components.

TT

dave1888 26th February 2010 11:59 PM

MX5 engine gearbox and ecu, fine piece of kit.

eSteve 27th February 2010 08:08 AM

I'm planning on using the 1.6 Pinto from my donor, with minimal work (a good clean-up, new points, oil, filter and cam belt will be about it) to get me IVA'd. Then replace it with a road tuned 2l Pinto (a nice winter's project).

twinturbo 27th February 2010 08:26 AM

Points????

TT

eSteve 27th February 2010 08:32 AM

Yes, points. Can you tell what an old fart I am?

Will fit a maga-jolt on the 2l.

twinturbo 27th February 2010 08:35 AM

Where's the engine comming from, sierras have electronic ignition.

TT

eSteve 27th February 2010 08:47 AM

:o

yes, your right TT and just had a look under the bonnet to double check. I was making the assumption on such an old car it would be points. Nice not to have them, they were a bit of a pain to set up.

Note to self: read Haynes manual more thouroughly! :D
