My Roadster Stuff for Sale

Afternoon all,

Clearly I have not done any work on my roadster for 6 months!!!

I had a good chat with myself then ran my thoughts by Nicky and with one thing and another have decided to sell up.:(

I think the forum is possibly the best place to market all the parts.:D

I have listed everything below with a price then added a description.

For Sale

Chassis £550. The Chassis is complete less the pedal box. It is for a type nine gearbox and GRP rear tub. To save me going on here follow the link to my build diary in my signature. The front frame has been painted and unfortunately there is some really light rust towards the rear. Included is the Aluminium floor, cut and drilled with over 200 rivet holes (took me hours). I have all the pictures of the build process and the diary that I can give to the buyer to prove it was not build by a company.

92 Sierra 1.8cc with type 9 gearbox £300. I have the log book in my name, VIN plate and number plates, the ‘car’ is SORN, all good stuff when you come to register and IVA. I could list everything I removed from the Sierra but again look at my build diary for more info. The steering lock is broken. The front hubs have been de-rusted and new bearings fitted also they have been reamed out to except the Maxi ball joints, they come with the mushroom inserts and grub screw holes have been drilled and tapped (by Enoch, thanks). I have new bearings for the rear that go with the car parts.

Mk 2 Escort steering rack £40.

Steering rack clamps £15

Saturn GRP Nose Cone in Black £100

Saturn GRP Rear Tube in Black £100

Full Wishbone and rear uprights c/w Bushes £370. Some of the bushes have been fitted the rest are in a bag. The rear uprights have been painted orange and some of the wishbones have been primered. Adjusters and Transit drag links included.

750cc Bike Carbs. £60. I don’t know much about these, I brought them off a forum member and they are gleaming! Never fitted by me they have come of a bike though.

Polo radiator. £20 The chassis has mounts to take this radiator.

Electric Fan. £20. Brought from Stonleigh last year and it is still in the box.

Head Lights £50. Brought from Stonleigh last year and they are still in the bag!

Seats.£150. Brought from Stonleigh last year. One has been used for mocking up the other has never been sat in. I have two seat runners that go with the sale one has been lengthened the other requires work. There is a picture of me sitting in them on page 24 of my build diary they are the ones from GBS.

That your lot, it all comes to £1775. I would love someone to take the lot for £1500 that is my ideal solution,:D but I fully appreciate we are all on a budget and don’t necessarily have that sort of cash kicking about but here’s hoping.
The best way to contact me is via email at gingeatwell@virginmedia.com it goes straight to my BlackBerry and you are likely to get a faster response. I am away AGAIN on Monday 15 Nov 10 for two weeks.

If someone has the lot there is a possibility I might be able to deliver, I reckon I can fit everything in my trailer with the chassis on top. We can talk about fuel money.

Not an easy decision to make but there it is. I won’t be on here from Monday 15 but will be logging on again from 26 Nov as I do daily (just have not been saying much recently, but still read all the posts, I might get one of Fabbys T-shirts!).

Cheers Ginge

CaptainCrash1971 13th November 2010 01:44 PM

Sad day Ginge, but a mans gotta do etc.
Would be interested in the fan if you can't find a buyer for the whole kit and caboodle. (Still have no idea what a caboodle is)
I hope someone comes along with the neccesary readies to keep your project going, good luck. Someone will get a bloody good start to a project.

gingea1pom 13th November 2010 01:52 PM

Cheers Captain,

I will pencil your name in next to the fan!;)

Last part of qualifying to watch then I will be back.

Cheers Ginge

SeriesLandy 13th November 2010 02:00 PM

Such a shame you are selling it Ginge.

I havn't done anything on mine since last November due to 1st house/ lots of work. I have contemplated selling but was too far in to sell, so I bought more bits.

Good luck in the future and try a build again.

Davey 13th November 2010 02:08 PM

Oh man that is such a shame:( . I was so looking forward to seeing your car completed. Such is life I suppose but its still a sad day.

D.

spud69 13th November 2010 02:13 PM

 Bloody Hell

What a big shame Ginge, All the best with whatever you next steps are. Band saw is still going strong, cheers.

Just about to go home soon to watch recorded qualifying and chill out.

All the Best.....AndyH

gingea1pom 13th November 2010 02:25 PM

Andy,

I won’t let on the qualifying result then!:D

It is a shame but I have had fun building the chassis, learnt loads of new skills and made some friends.

Probably the wrong time to sell but I am in no rush. I think I will get another Land Rover toy, more my area of expertise and I live on Salisbury plain the biggest off road course after Wales.

Cheers Ginge

Twin 13th November 2010 02:34 PM

gaz05 13th November 2010 04:14 PM

That is a shame mate. Is the rack new?

Gary

davedew 13th November 2010 04:19 PM

Sorry to hear your selling up. If you do end up splitting it all up put me down for the radiator.

Cheers

Dave

gingea1pom 13th November 2010 04:21 PM

Gary,

Rack is new or reconditioned.:D

Dave,

Sorry I have had an email about the rad!:(

Cheers Ginge

gaz05 13th November 2010 04:27 PM

Cheers Ginge .Could you give me a posted price for the rack and clamps (UK).

You sure you want to do this?

Gary.

gaz05 13th November 2010 04:29 PM

Sorry. Could you include the column connector that clamps onto the rack splines

Bonzo 13th November 2010 04:29 PM

Real gutted for you Ginge

Thats a real bummer mate, that can't have been an easy decission to come to :(

I understand where you are coming from though .... It must be real difficult for you to find the time for hobbys in view of your commitment to the army.

Here's hoping you manage to sell up OK & manage to find a project that fits in better with your personal circumstances :)

Been a real pleasure following your build progress, let's hope you'll keep us all up to date with any new project.

gingea1pom 13th November 2010 04:47 PM

Gary,

I will weigh it and get a price for you.

The connector that goes on the splines is part of the steering column and there for comes with the steering column and consequently the car sorry.:o

Ronne,

I was a long decision process and not taken lightly. On the upside I have been out in the garage on and off today sorting stuff out.

Remember no comms on the forum from Monday.

Cheers Ginge

Enoch 13th November 2010 05:06 PM

Hi Ginge, that is a real shame.
To anybody thinking of buying the chassis, do have a look at the build site - Ginge's work is of the highest quality, a great deal of care has been taken over it and it really is superb. Whoever buys that will be getting fantastic value for money.
Enoch.

gingea1pom 13th November 2010 05:07 PM

Cheers mate I appreciate your kind words:o

tkpm 13th November 2010 06:29 PM

Sorry to here your selling up ginge, all the best for any future plans.......

I would be interested in your seats, if you don't sell them as a package with the chassis.

Terry

gingea1pom 13th November 2010 07:16 PM

OK.

As it stands the following have expressed an interest in the following

Steering rack and clamps gaz05
Bike carbs (if the person I got them of can remind me what bike they were of that would be handy) JMH
Rad Gingernutter
Seats tkpm
Fan CaptainCrash1971

I would prefer a bank transfer rather than PayPal.;)

I am going to weigh stuff once the kids are in bed and will contact people once I have a postage cost.

Tkpm there is no way I will get a box big enough for the seats you might have to collect!:(

Cheers Ginge

squbti 13th November 2010 07:27 PM

gingea1pom 13th November 2010 07:34 PM

Samy,

Thanks for your kind words.

My build diary will live on to help others and I am not going to bu**er of completely, nice people on here.

Now if you could all get into ‘off roading’ that would sort me right out

squbti 13th November 2010 07:39 PM

What kind of off roading do you mean, jeep, quad, bike.. ?

whitstella 13th November 2010 07:47 PM

looks like a stunning build pal, started mine a few weeks ago unless i would have had it. timing is everything.

davedew 13th November 2010 07:50 PM

Ginge. I was after the rad not the steering rack. Must have me mixed up with someone else.

I'm sure there are more people into offroading on here. I've got a quad that I use on our farm for a bit of fun but there is nowhere near me to use it.

gingea1pom 13th November 2010 10:37 PM

I am in charge of 18 drivers who are of a constant concern to me with regards to their land rover driving.

What they fail to remember is ‘sarge’ has done it all before.

What year is the Disco? and are you selling selling it?

Cheers Ginge

tkpm 13th November 2010 11:02 PM

Thats fine Ginge, can do cash on collection if that helps

Terry

SeriesLandy 13th November 2010 11:28 PM

Its an N so 95/96 however its not for sale will be using it for shooting as my quad is too loud and all the bunnies will run away.

Its also a 2 door so not the most useful but it does.

gingea1pom 13th November 2010 11:28 PM

Terry,

Give me a pm when you want to come over, either Sun afternoon or the weekend of the 27-28 Nov 10.

Cheers Ginge

alga 13th November 2010 11:46 PM

Sad news there, I have to say your build diary was an absolute insperation to me, I even have it on my favourites menu for quick reference, along with Enoch's.
Real shame, but like you say no easy decision.
Joe.

Got the rack and bits today Ginge. On the one hand I feel a bit sad that I got them because you've decided not to go ahead with the car but on the other I'm very pleased with them. Thanks again .
