Tea + patience + 150 Tonne ......

Well after making a right royal mess of my rear suspension mounts. I decided to get off my lazy backside and fabricate new mounts make a new locating jig and fix it. Luckily I managed to remove the old mounts, despite being fully welded, without cutting into the chassis. It took 4 hours to grind off the old mounts, but saved damaging the box section. After all the grinding, I didn't have the motivation to bend the brackets in a vice, So I setup the press / folder and ran all 8 brackets through that.

Cos I'm a bit boring, I grabbed the camera while I did it. I even youtube'd a bit, gotta love that press....

I cut out the profiles, made a centralising gauge for lining up the folds on the press

150 tonne of pressure later

All the brackets + spares made. You can also see all the trial folds on scrap, before putting brackets in there. I then used a mounted scribe and a milling machine to put the hole in the right place.

All the brackets on the rear subframe. I made a jig that held the whole bunch of eight brackets the correct distances.
