Ford Sierra Indicator Stalk Switch Hazard Switch
 
Hi all
Has anybody got one of the above, as there are more than one type fitted to sierra here is the SN on the faulty unit on mine, please PM me if you do.

Yes there are two types of these . One type switched the positive line whist the other switched the negative. The earlier version had slightly stronger contacts as it was designed to be wired directly whilst the later stalk units ones were wired through relays so didnt need such high rated contacts.

Slightly annoyingly the two types look exactly the same externally and they both use the same connectors- But they are wired quite differently inside so the actual pin outs will be different between the two types. Either type is useable but they are not interchangeable.

It would be worth running that part number by a Ford dealer to find out what year it is from then cross check to the wiring diagrams in the Sierra Haynes manual.

The left and right stalk sets on mine were sourced from different donor cars so rather than try and work that one out on paper i sat down with a multimeter one evening and spent an hour or so working out what pins related to which switch functions and then connected them up to the loom to suit.

Yes though i never did manage to track the pins for the windscreen washer button so used a seperate swich for this.
