Fuel Tanks

Hi guys,

My tank is aluminium read in iva manual that they need to be earthed, is this correct.

also the breather pipe what does it need to be capped off with? at the moment its cable tied to the filler pipe goin up to fuel cap level with top of the rear tub

Hi Jb,

The Fuel tank will be earthed with your fixings on the sender and the earth wire so that will be okay.

For the breather on the filler pipe will be okay but if you extend the pipe to below the level of the tank then should you ever turn the car over fuel will not escape from the tank via the breather.

Not sure on the rules, but I would have thought that every fuel tank should have an earth strap to prevent static build up

Yes it is Dave so that you don't get a static spark between the tank and filler nozzle which is also earthed.
