warning water is dangerous!!!

just a little warning to everyone. dont try and run your car up to temp without making sure you have a bead and good hose clip on all your hot water pipes. today one of my pipes burst off with the water temp at plus 100 degrees. resulting in two silly forum members with third degree burns and 2 good shots of morphine and a trip for gingea1pom to east grinstead special burns unit.

here are the picts ginge actually has no skin in his neck or arm

be carefull guys

lets put it this way. i will never moan about sun burn again. i cant even think about how much pain ginge is in cos my hand bloody kills and i didnt lose even half the skin that ginge lost.

he has got a pict of the uncovered burns on his phone im sure they will be posted at some point. i never thought skin could look like it was melting and falling off.

AshG 19th November 2009 11:34 PM

the water was so hot and under such high pressure that it actually burnt through our clothes and took skin off.

HandyAndy 19th November 2009 11:38 PM

how are you both smiling? or is the morphine still active?

that is one scary day you,ve both had:eek:
i can only imagine the feeling of such bad burns,

well we lived to tell the tale ginge went into shock as we arrived at the hospital. everyone moans about waiting hours at a&e. tonight we couldnt have faulted them. ginge was on a bed being assessed and treated within 60seconds of arriving at the desk.

i know they will prob never get to see this but i want to say a big thankyou to the staff at medway hospital they were great in our little crisis.

HandyAndy 19th November 2009 11:55 PM

full respect to the staff at your hospital,

what time did this happen Ash?

best wishes to you both for your recovery from this horrific accident.

happened about 6:30 was at the hispital by 7:15 after one of us being under a freezing cold shower and the other under the hose in the garden. i feel real bad for ginge cos he got the worst of it. i escaped with my hand and knee where as his whole arm got it and the side of his neck

whats more crazy is that we fitted the pipe together tuesday and both agreed it shoud be fine. today it bit us in the ass.

so remember guys even if pipes with a proper bead are a bit more expensive they are worth it.

gingea1pom 20th November 2009 12:05 AM

My arm is f****ng recking.:D

I feel bad because Ash feels bad, all that build time we missed.

The reason we got seen in less than a min is because Ash said "my mate is outside and his face is falling off!"

Morphine is great, third degree burns are not. Oh and coolent tastes like s***e

Ill be OK Im a rufty tufty solider!:D

HandyAndy 20th November 2009 12:14 AM

Ginge.... you must be as tough as the army boots you wear if you,re more concerned about missing the build time

again.... wish you both well for the recovery process.

a harsh reminder to us all of the safety needed whilst building our cars.
