Wishbones..enlightenment required!!!!

Wishbones have the polybushes and crush tubes in them...but...the crush tubes
do not extend past the polybushes- i.e they appear to be too short!
My understanding of this type of set up is that the suspension bracket " pinches" the crush tube and holds it still; this in turn rotates within the polybushes. To my mind, the crush tube needs to extend past the polybush. If it does not, and the suspension bracket pinches against the polybushes... how the heck is it going to work!!
Hope this makes sense to somebody!

Hi Vince

Yes you are right in your understanding on the way these bushes work :)

The crush tube should be slightly longer than the bushes when fitted.

Working from memory the crush tubes should be 44mm long.

It is worth checking that your bush tubes are no longer than 35mm & that the bushes are to the book spec. ;)

In theory 1/2 -.5 mm clearance either side of the crush tube all things being equal.
The flange on the bush is 4mm,so 35 +8 = 43.
