Diagonal 13

Right its a long story but bare with me please, i have just bought a fuel tank off a guy on ebay
It's cracking quality but i didn't read the listing properly and it turns out it's 100mm longer than the book speck.
My question is, is there any reason why D13 cannot be altered so that it angles off from the point it joins D12 to the outside of the car, if it can it will save me sending the tank back. The guy is being great about it and he will swap it free of charge, its' just the hastle of returning it and waiting a couple of weeks for the replacement.

I think I know the diagonals you refer to. I dont have the book with me at the moment but I dont think it will cause any issues. If I remember rightly you were using an ali tub, so providing the tub clears the diagonals (which it will if I am correct which diagonals you are refering to) I cant see any issues. Possibly slightly weaker in a rear end shunt, but the whole car is going to come off worse than a modern car in an accident, so I would'nt be to concerned.

We'll I didn't quite do it as described, went for a cut directly above the lower cross member that the lower hoop attaches to then welded in a vertical box section. Next welded in a box section from the cross section to the lower hoop and then 3 pieces of flat bar for the tank to sit on and then bolted to.
Now I need to drill some holes in the flat bar to bolt the holding straps to and hopefully that will be that.
