Smallest alternator
I am on the hunt for a small alternator, the smaller in physical size the better. Any suggestions?? I dont mind buying new.

Forklifts are a popular choice here as they are very compact. Although I can't remember which one.

I should think a daihatsu A073 (40amp) or H073 (60amp) are about the smallest and lightest that I've seen. I think they're about 6 inches long and 4 inches diameter. They weigh about 2.5kg iirc.

Bob Edit .found one on the bay of thieves and its internally regulated http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Denso-Ligh...20855776143%26. just need to make sure 40 amps is enough |
I went to the breakers and picked the smallest they had in their Japanese department. Even the small hatches have 60A alternators minimum. I took one from a Nissan Sunny, I think the model is Hitachi LR165. It weighed 3.5 kg if I recall correctly.

Nippon Denso alternator Bob :)
Found on a lot of jap cars at the breakers. Here's a picture that might help. |

That one has a better mounting lug than the one I found on ebay. What was it off of Ronnie? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Denso-Ligh...20855776143%26 Bob |
Looks like a RX7 to me.
