Not much time spent on the car since xmas Gutted only a hour or so hear and there as yet again I'm working loads of hour in work on a big project but iv managed to fix down my scuttle iv started to play with the wiring loom and I pick up my now welded together fuel tank so I might give the wiring a miss for a bit and fit the tank and do the fuel system

well guess what I managed to spend a couple of hours in the garage yesterday afternoon. modified my mx5 exhaust header to pick up my bit ( quiet happy with the way that turned out) and started to run the pipe down the side of the car. Tonight I plan on making my tail pipe and then onto grinding my welds down and start to polish it up to a mirror finish. The silencer is just sat there for now to make it easier to polish then when its all polished up ill weld the 3 peace together then ill just have the welds to polish on the silencer

Tidy job on the exhaust there mate, but I have to ask - did you weld new mild steel onto the old cast iron? If so you may end up with cracking at the joint.
Also your engine looks proper nice all cleaned up, I must confess I looked at the state of mine and just settled for a bit of a scraping!

The manifold is steel and it welded together nice I cleaned up the ends first. The 2-1 is 2 pease of pressed steel to make the side with a seem down the middle to make it complete

Ah, bang on - should have thought it would have been cast steel instead :) As I said it's a tidy job mate, gonna have to start on mine soon and I aint looking forwards to it!

Well so far thats 1 hour grinding and sanding down the welds and about 2 1/2 hours polishing and that is the front half up to the silencer done next is the tail pipe grind and polish that weld before I weld the two peaces to the silencer
