Chassis Rotisserie

Our welder at work has said he will build me a rotisserie for my chassis. Im currently about 3/4 of the way through welding it and am finding it a pain to turn the chassis over and climbing over the table to weld.

Is a rotisserie a good idea or will it put too much stress on the chassis and potentially cause it to sag.

i would probably wait until nearly all of the welding is done then use it to tidy up some welds and when installing panels and components etc.

also it wont cost anything which makes me think i should just get it done anyway!

Cheers

Andy

We built 1 form my mates mini when welding the floor and sills. Made it so much easier.
Not so sure about the roadster chassis thou, probably better is you keep it clamped down when doing most of the welding to keep it straight then flip it over.

Very useful

Hi,

FYI JimBob posted some information about his earlier on in the year see:

http://www.haynes.co.uk/forums/showt...ght=rotisserie

Being able to rotate the chassis (once it has suffiecient strength to keep itself together) is a boon.

I was forever turning mine over, upside-down, on it side, etc. after it was off the build table, in order to finish welds, add brackets etc. I have a chain block on an RSJ which was a great help. RSJ was put in place by the previous house owner and chain block was a £5 of eBay.

Rotisserie is seemingly handy and from the video a simple contraption.
But if one didn't build a chassis with enough steel in it for it to double as a train trestle, the actual need for a rotisserie would much less.
