Pinto sump shortening?

Just lopped 35mm off my pinto sump,

What exactly do you do with the remaining bit that will block the oil going to the welded extension? if you know what i mean? in the book diagram it says "saw lines" or something. I dont get it, i may be being daft though? :o

i take it you mean the bit between the old area where the oil is and the new hole you just made to make up the volume of oil you just removed?

you just want somthing that acts as a baffle so drilled holes and notches or cut slats so oil will not slosh around in crankcase into crank under hard braking etc.
you also want to make sure you dont make a traped air pocket.
drill a 6-8mm hole in the highest point in the new area so no air pocket is formed
