Oil pressure switch

Daft question coming up,

nearly there on starting the engine but wanted to make sure oil pressure is there before I do.

Is it a straight forward live feed to the switch with a lamp in series?

I think they are normally a switched negative as the engine is already earthed when you get low pressure it joins the circuit and the light comes on.......... or if you havnt modded your oil pick up tube properly :D

Cheers Mark,

all sorted but it had me worried for a bit (mentioning of pick-up tube??).

I cleaned the sensor connection up, gave it a live feed with lamp in series and the lamp illuminated. Turned over the engine and luckily the light went out.

Best indication of oil pressure till I get a guage.

I'll have to give it a go next time in the garage (start that is). Fingers crossed.

if the light is going out then I wouldn't worry too much. no oil pressure is bad :D
