Does anyone know what size of C Spanner I will need for adjusting my protech shocks?

I think there are only 2 sizes for coilovers; either 1.9" or 2.25".
Most likely yours will be the 1.9" unless you specified 2.25" when you bought them.Plenty of c spaners on Ebay or Rally design.

Are there any guidence notes on how to adjust the Protech shocks - how to adjust, which direction etc. With the tyre pressures at 18 psi the ride is still a bit hard for road use but I dont know where to start with adjusting the shocks.

If there is only the one adjusting ring then there will be a grub screw to lock the ring against the thread.If you lower the platform the spring is sat on this will lower the car,hence raising it will raise the ride height of the car.There is usually a small adjuster on the lower part of the shock also,this will have a + and - on it and usuallyi would go through the full range and count the number of clicks.Then back it off to half of the clicks and use this as a starting point.If your ride is still harsh after adjusting it to the minimum you will likely need to change the springs for some softer ones.

Thanks Ozzy, so the C spanner is used on the main body of the shock to raise or lower ride height and some types will also have a second adjuster on the lower body of the shock to adjust the damper rate ?

The C spanner will fit the notches in the lower spring platform which u can raise or lower.The adjustable knob with + and - will adjust bump and rebound.

Thanks ozzy that kinda helps. Problem is I have no idea which size mine are as I got them from a group buy on here and they didn't come with any instructions, specifications, etc.

I have found I can adjust the springs/ride height by hand when the car is raised and the shocks are fully extended. Actually, in this position the springs have a bit of slack when the ride height is set at 12-13 cm that is usually recommended. As for the shock clicker, I think I've read that people set it all the way left to softest setting for road, and tighten by 3-4 clicks for track.

Ya I tightened mine up by hand as far as I could while it was on axle stands but now that the car is back on the ground it's still a bit low at the front (cant get a trolley jack under it). So how do I know if mine is a 1.9" or a 2.25" and will that spanner ozzy linked fit both?

I would be pretty sure that as you bought on the group buy they would be 1.9" coilovers.
1.9"= 48.26mm
2.25"= 57.15mm
I have Gaz 1.9" coilovers and the locking ring diameter is 63mm.
If you lift out the upper spring platform(has a slot in it) and turn it upside down you can measure the diameter that locates against the inner of the spring,this will tell you if you have 1.9 or 2.25 coilovers.
I think its likely also that the C spanner i linked to will fit both.
