Have you got your floors in yet? I have made a start on my bodywork and the sides wont go on with my floor in place, I have had to trim the lower lip of part of the sides.

Yes my floor is fitted, i had the same problem with the sides TT.

I used a flap disc and hoover to smooth the back of the fibreglass, i also rounded the edge of the ally floor.

Why the trouble fitting the side panels?

I had slight problem with thickness of the fibreglass in a couple of places.

I'm having the same problems with mine, I've had to cut holy f*ck out of them and they still ain't fitting properly. Trouble is u do all the hard work building the car then a couple of ill fitting panels make :( it look shit.

Probably got a lot to do with moving away from book spec steel sheet floor, plus a couple of mill here and there,it was suggested to leave panels in a warm room for a while and it makes them more pliable.

I trial fitted mine in the garage at low temp and then warmed them in the paint booth, much easier.

Something has changed then as the sides were made originally with an allowance for 16swg ali floor. Using steel on the floor causes more hassle than it's worth, if not done right it can and will distort the chassis. Ali floor should be riveted using countersunk rivets along the edge where the side panel over laps.

My side panels were a little tight in places, but they went over the ali floor and rivet heads no problem.

A quick thump with the plam of the hand got them on ok. They have got easier the more they have been on and off though.

Sounds like a variation in material thickness then. Just be careful when sanding the corners and make sure you wear a mask as grp dust isn't too clever to breathe in.
