Drive shaft hard to turn ?

So I managed to tighten up my drive shaft nut to the torque required. Now with no wheels or brakes fitted it is quite hard to turn the shaft by hand is that normal ?
There is also no oil in the diff.

I've seen this mentioned elsewhere and the answer was 'yes' it can be very tight. I've torqued mine up using an impact driver - but it's only rated to about 200nm I think - so I found mine only a bit stiff with the hub on the spline and not a problem at all with the wheels back on.
