Seat height

Hi all. How high above the floor are the seats in your cars? I'm especially interested in Spud's, as I'm 190 cm high.

I made myself a pair of folded seats out of a 1.5 mm steel by the Rorty seat pattern. Here's a pic of the work in progress:

I've mounted the first one 10 cm above the floor. The driving position is good, but I fear it will be far too high. My shoulders are about 20 cm above the seat back top rail (SB2), the harness mounts could be a problem.

Seats want to be as low as you can get them and you still able to see where you are going.

mine are going to be about 75mm (3" in old money) and my harnesses are going to be mounted in the rollbar like Ash G's but i'm not putting that bit in till i get the overall height of the seat. once they are mounted i'll send you a picture

Where are you measuring the 10cm gap? From what I remember of sitting in Spud's car (and every other car of this type), the seats are mounted as low as possible.

mines from the sheet on the floor .

Im 1.95m and have mine on lowline runners so the seat is around 20mm from the floor, my seats are fibreglass so no extra thickness at the base really

I can see over the scuttle and aeroscreen absolutely fine

if you prefer to sit higher up for some strange reason just extend the roll bar to suit the extra height, its supprising how many cars you see where the roll bar is level with the drivers head
