is it possible to get details of Co2 data from engine manufactoror so that could be used to verfiy the lower tax??

this will work if you have a donor car that is after 1996 i think. any old sierras ect, the manufacturer doesnt have a co2 rating for

i have also found out that in order to have an IVA, you must present your plans ect to the NSAI and they must access it. they charge 1300 plus VAT a day for this and the woman i was talking to said it may take half a day, a full day, a day and a half, even more, she really didnt know.
So i find it rather unreasonable and hard to justify having a car like this on the road.

If it's daft money to IVA a car over there surely it would pay to find a friendly bod over here to act as address etc so you could IVA over here then just take home a UK car?..I know folk in France do that..;)

Hi all, am rattling through the IVA (Ireland) document to see what parts are pertinent to a roadster type build.

I spoke with various parties and the UK and Irish systems are aligned but glancing at the IVA Manual (UK) and the NSAI IVA (Ire) there seems some differences.

In respect of the section 39. emissions there is a provision for calculation of the CO2 emissions based on Fuel, Car weight, transmission and Engine Power for vehicles that have not had a tailpipe emissions test.

The NSAI have confirmed that this will be acceptable documentary evidence on this.

Couple of observations about this calculations
Automatic petrol vehicles are more affected by weight than power.
Diesel vehicles are not affected by engine power.

(1 bhp = 0.75kW) ie 100 hp = 75kW

Not as far as I know, I think the only way is to build a car and take it up North or take it to UK get it IVA and bring it back in and pay VRT.

If you are forced down the UK IVA route I'm happy to help, the majority of IVA tests in NI are carried out at the Newtownards Centre in Co Down, 20mins from me.
