track rod ends

I've just looked at my steering and there is quite a bit of play. I've looked at the track rod ends and this is where it's coming from. I've tried to tighten the bolt but they seem to be just turning around. Is there any way of stopping this?

I am using mx5 uprights

Thanks

David

You could try putting a piece of wood on top of a jack and then applying a little pressure from underneath the track rod end to help push the taper in and stop it spinning.

Is it a new part or have you used a second hand one as once they have been used they are a bugger to get tightened up again.

They are new parts, but been in place a while.

I am thinking about changing the track rod ends to MX5 ones, similar to what Nathan did. The only problem is they are longer than the rs2000 ones so would need to obtain some rack extentions that are shorter than the normal Haynes ones.

Phil, do you fancy adding some to your shop?

The mx5 ends are angled at the end so they will probably be a better fit. Has anyone else noticed the rubber is very squashed where its connected to the hub?
