Somewhere on a Galaxy Near You......

Well I had a good road trip on Sunday, Me and the boy went up to Greenock to collect a V6 Type 9 Gearbox, Prop, Starter, Clutch and Braided Brake hoses for £80 :)

And then we went down to Davey H to collect his chassis and uprights, and bits for Andy and Tatey.

The trip back was uneventful, we had a picnik at a services and were home just after 1pm..

It looks, from that photo... As if I just have one ratchet strap.. Almost true. I only used two.

But I had a cunning plan that worked out almost perfectly.

5 of these clamped the chassis to the roof bars very solid!! they just got in the way when trying to put the chassis on and off the roof..

I could not tell the chassis was there, MPG was hardly hit at all, the 230 mile round trip avaraged 28 on the way there but had droped to 27.5 on the way back. The best you ever get on this car is about 32 after a long long long steady 70mph cruise on flatter roads ( the trip to glasgow is hilly!!! )

The only time we had a problem was when the front ratchet strap started bussing in the wind. A few more cranks on the leaver sorted that..

:)

Lookin' good TT, you'll soon be wheeling it round;) . Here's a little tip to stop straps buzzing in the wind, twist them twice.;)

I would check the number of teeth on the input shaft inside the gearbox it should have 19 being the v6 type 9, iv just bought one off the bay and when my dad got back with it after a 300 mile trip checked the teeth and its a fucking diesel box with a longer input shaft, proper pissed off!!

looking good. when i went and picked up my mates R1OT chassis on my roof it affected my mpg quite a bit as the chassis was already panelled and acted like a sail. still managed 43mpg but down from 55-60mpg though.

so are you going to crack on straight away or leave it in the garage for abit while you collect the rest of the parts.

I need to generat some cash into my car funds. currently in defecit on paper  . And one or two more pressing issues on other cars to get sorted.

Next step once the virtual books are balancing in the good way is to nip over to Saturn for a set of Bones and Bushes... That will get it rolling.
