Column angle?

As i'm not that happy with my current layout in the 'cockpit' I am thinking the steering column angle needs to change. I'd like the wheel to be closer to my chest and my thighs...

Has anyone fitted the column differently - e.g. horizontally across the top of the chassis rails rather than angled down above the pedal box? I've found a pic of a Locost that look like it has been done like that...?

Not sure what the implications would be for the angle of the steering wheel or the stalks, etc?

If you are using a bearing in the bulkhead and not the Sierra rubber plug then
It fairly simple to drop the steering at the mounts
Don't see any issue with stalks
I fitted an adjustable steering column, this gives me a degree of in/out & up/down as standard
