Roll bar rear stays and cross bar

Hi, I wander could someone tell me if mild steel cold formed tube would be suitable for the rear stays and cross bar on the roll bar ? I bought the main roll bar in a group buy but haven't got round to finishing it yet ? Which is ERW thanks

I imagine the answer to that is a simple yes as I dont think there is anything about it in the iva manual but my advice would be to use some steel with a slightly more substantial wall thickness to help give some rear impact protection alternatively have a look for some cds for the rear stays scaffold tube should do for the cross brace

Just my thoughts hope it helps

Rear stays/seat fixing

Hi,
Thanks for the reply that's very helpful thought it might be ok .
I wandered if you could also tell me the best way of mounting seats. I want to put them on a adjustable bracket should I mount them to a piece of flat mild steel say 5mm thick and 50mm wide that could be drilled and tapped and use fasteners thats welded to the chassis or should I go for box section that could have bolts right through the box and floor if you get my drift!
And any idea where I could get seats basic fibre glass shells, is also a problem I you can't try first. Do any seat companies attend shows ?
Sorry for the long question.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Daveyb

i put my seets on two lengths of 19mm box with tubes in for where the bolts go so the box doesnt crush.
i used a padded style seat with ajustable runners but im pritty sure triton do some of the shows with thair grp seats.

another idea would be to see if any local builders have some you could test :o

I've used 50.8 x 3mm for the main hoop and 38 x 2.6 for cross bar and rear stays, all tube is ERW
