2.0 dif and box??

Question.

Is there any difference between an 1800 pinto diff and gearbox to a 2.0 Pinto

The 1800 ones are tried and tested, so want to know if it's worth sorting out the 2.0 , or just refitting the originals

Cheers David

David, i might be wrong but i think they,ll be the same as each other, i thought it was just the diesel engined sierra,s that had different ratio,s in the diff & gearbox :confused: :o

on my cvh set up i have the 3.92 diff from an estate car, is there a tag on your diff,s?

cheers

leave the old ones in you know they are good. keep the others as spares. the gearbox ratios will all be the same. the diff could be a different ratio but unless you can work out what it is from the metal tags then i would say dont worry.

That was my way of thinking Ash. I'll check the diff's tomorrow anyway,
just out of curiosity

BTW Ash, don't suppose you got a compression tester I could borrow?

If you have kept the VIN plate from the donor look at box 10 Axle the code letter in there equates to the fitted axle ratio (although the only real way to tell is to use the diff tag codes or open the diff, the ratio is engraved on the crown wheel)
M=3.14
A=3.36
V=3.38
U=3.62
3=3.64
D=3.92
any diff tag code with AA or AAA is a LSD

There are 3 Type 9 gearbox gear sets for the 4 pot engines, Diesel, P100 and Petrol. The standard Type 9 has a 3.6 to 1 first gear the V6 Type 9 has a 3.3 first gear but has a longer input shaft.

Snapper, question...
Box 10. is that the 10th letter in the Vin No?
If so then it's an "N"...Which don't show on your list.
Or am I being a numpty.:rolleyes:
