New builder and after advise

Hi ya, new to the kit car car building game so would like some advise please.

1 How much clearence do you have betweena cortina rear axle and the chassis, i mean the chassis bar that runs under the axle , When the car is jacked up does the axle sit on the chassis.

2 Are adjustable steering columns IVA compliant

3 What hand brake cable do you use with the cortina axle

im sure i will ask more as i go.

Hope you guys can help me
Many thanks

Davrus,

The Haynes Roadster is designed to use components from the Sierra IRS I believe the Cortina uses a beam axel this could prove problematic.

Yes adjustable steering columns are IVA compliant as they are used in production cars.

With the Sierra rear end we use Sierra hand brake cables, there are lots of people on here using all sorts of different hand break cables as the Sierra one requires shortening.

I guess you are using Cortina stuff as you have a Cortina as a doner?

Keep asking, Cheers Ginge

Not sure the cortina axle will be any use, it's too wide for most 7's

Hi ya

Thanks for the replys.

My chassis is 4" wider so the cortina axle is ideal, I beleive the shoe back plates are from a sierra so i will probably go sierra hand brake cabe, how have you gone about shortening them?

MK2 Cortina axle same width as Escort,
Mk3> Cortina similar width to Sierra so would work but heavier than the sierra parts used in the haynes rear end which being independant and adjustable means it can be set up to handle better than 19th century beam axle:D
