Looks like a great build, obviously not short on equipment in the workshop!

ayjay 20th February 2013 02:45 PM

I'm sure I saw a ghost:eek:

robj 20th February 2013 07:49 PM

cheers for the coments everyone. Hopefully I've put the engine together properly but there's only one way to find out. What ghost Ayjay ?

ayjay 20th February 2013 09:49 PM

Too many pics to quote.
He's wandering round in pic7 of this thread. :o

robj 20th February 2013 10:20 PM

I see what you mean. Its just a big sculpture of a barn owl. :D

ayjay 20th February 2013 11:27 PM

Are you sure:eek:

robj 21st February 2013 03:19 PM

thats great i think i should try and sell that to the artist :D

robj 24th March 2013 07:34 PM

Made a bit more progress. I thought I'd have a go a making a silencer.

robj 24th March 2013 07:38 PM

There's a bit more work to do on it yet. I've got to make the hangers yet, and give it a coat of high heat paint. I'll pop up some more pics when it's finished.

K4KEV 24th March 2013 09:31 PM

You is certainly taking a leaf out of my book ....why buy when you can make, good on yer bud;) ;)

robj 24th March 2013 09:55 PM

Its mainly because I'm tight.:D

AshG 28th March 2013 10:35 AM

looking good love the way you used ratchet straps to roll the steel for the silencer.

little word of warning take your alternator bracket off and beef it up and triangulate it if you don't it will eventually give up and leave you stranded at the side of the road. guess how i found out :D

robj 28th March 2013 07:24 PM

cheers for the tip Ash I'll beef it up. I did start it off on the rollers but I couldn't get it tight enough so a little assistance was needed.

twinturbo 29th March 2013 07:54 AM

That is fantastic!

TT

robj 29th March 2013 08:22 PM

After the advice Ash gave me about the book spec alternator bracket not be up for the job i thought I'd beef it up a bit.

Also had a go at making a fuel. I started one in alloy but after reading about E10 fuel in the CKC mag and it not liking alloy I thought I'd have a go at a stainless one.

So I raided the scrap bit a work. Well when I say scrap bin I mean the steel off the rack next to it.

robj 29th March 2013 08:27 PM

I tacked it together with the mig. Can you spot where I made a mistake and had patch some extra holes I cut.

Added some baffles not very neatly though.

robj 29th March 2013 08:32 PM

Then I got the TIG out and welded in up.

Just hope my measuring was up to scratch and it fits the car. I've still got to add the fuel sender fuel feed and vent . Its not a light tank but it is very strong.

robj 25th January 2014 11:05 PM

I thought I better get on with the build. I've recently moved house and now have my own garage. Better than having to drive 40 miles to my dads to work on it.Hoping to get a move on now. A quick pic to start the progress.

K4KEV 26th January 2014 02:00 AM

nice to see you are still at it bud .....get stuck in:D

TheArf 26th January 2014 03:11 PM

looking good there mate lots of pictures, where are you located.

Arfon

twinturbo 26th January 2014 05:22 PM

And now you don't have to put up with headless Knights, bodyless horses and other wierd things.

Bet the garage does not look that pristine in 3 months.

TT

robj 26th January 2014 06:49 PM

I'm hoping that I can keep it that way but somehow I think it won't. I'm sure the odd horses head might crop up now and again. I live in Bromborough on the wirral Arf.

TheArf 27th January 2014 04:58 PM

Your not far from Ayjay and my-self then

Arfon

robj 27th January 2014 08:43 PM

WREXHAM?
Excuse me I live in Coedpoeth-I am a hillbilly not a swampy

TheArf 30th January 2014 11:17 AM

See, the air is that thin up there that when he drives down to normal altitude he has to adjust the fuel mixture so that the car can run on thicker air

Arfon

TheArf 30th January 2014 11:24 AM

Rob,

I have just looked on AA route planner and you are 26 miles away 39 mins travelling time

kind regards

Arfon

robj 30th January 2014 10:13 PM

A few of my mates live in Wrexham and used to take my fiat to all italia garage just outside ceodpoeth, in fact it probably spent more time there than at mine.

Cheers Arfon
