Steering reassurance

1 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone,

I know similar has already been asked but i need a bit of reassurance and guidance with regards to the steering column. Firstly, i think I've made an error and disposed of part of the column with the shell (whoops)! Am i right in thinking that this is the part I need to buy:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-SIERR...ht_1016wt_1144

or

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SIERRA-GRA...#ht_500wt_1378

The reassurance I need is:
From the picture, am I right in thinking this is what I need and in this order:

From the steering wheel, through the bulkhead where I need a bush/bearing
Into the extension tube
On to one of the the sierra parts above
On to group 4 coupling
On to mk2 escort rack (which is in place).

Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post!

Ash

Yep you seem to have it sussed, you will defo need the upper triangular part,
I have just used the parts that came with the donor including the rubber uj, but thats just me being a skinflint:D

Brilliant, thanks Kev. So is it the first item I linked or the second that I need? The first seems longer??

If you are going with the group 4 coupling.... it looks like the cheaper of the two will get you what you need. if you want to stay with the rubber setup then get the other.... either way you are still gonna be forking out around the £30 mark + p&p

forgot to say YOU will be deciding the length when you extend the whole engine bay side of steering

Oh right, so the group 4 coupling is not a necessity if i were to have the original part, so that means the sierra column end has the same spline as the escort rack? I thought the reason people were getting the group four was to match the rack, but thats not the case? So as I'm in a position to choose, which is the better option?

Sorry for having a bit of a moment, and thanks for bearing with me!! :)

Yea, I'm cool with that thanks, just hadn't spotted what was different.

The Sierra shaft fits on the Escort rack just fine, it's just a matter of extending it. (http://imgur.com/a/w1QR3)

I guess people replace the rubber UJ with a group 4 for sharper steering. Personally, I don't see a problem with the rubber bit.
