ball joint boots
 

Was looking at my ball joint boots earlier and Ican see that they are starting to show signs of going brittle and cracking I was thinking the joints themselves are ok they nothing wrong qith them they just old stock so I started looking at the boots and found http://www.balljointboots.co.uk/index.html and was wondering if anyone has used these type of boots previously and are they worth it

I got mine from Rally design, looking in their book now £4.90 a pair obviously the compulsory plus vat on the end.
They do them for the maxi ball joints and the drag links

I bought my joints from rally design and the boots perished within a year (never saw the light of day)

I emailed them and they sent replacements. I don't know how long ago you bought them but they were a few years old when I emailed.

The boots are all perished on all my joints (including my feet) was going to try one of the 17quid workshop packs

I too have had an issue with the bottom ball joints, they were cheap from rally design but the car has not moved an inch and they have both cracked! If anyone does source some new boots and can let me know on the quality and where they source them I would be grateful as obviously I will need to replace them. The other drag links I bought from local motor store are fine.

I have that problem, too. My plan is to take them to a place that specializes in rebuilding ball joints, they should have fresher rubber of the right size.

My guess is all the Austin Maxi ball joints have been made at least three decades ago, that's why the boots are crumbling from just looking at them.

Any local factor should do them,been an MOT failure for long enough so they stock them.
