Exterior Projections
So I've got my side panels and nosecone on and put the front suspension back together at the weekend. I'm a bit worried though about my some of my front suspension parts failing on the radius checks as mine looks a bit like the pictures here http://www.haynes.co.uk/forums/showp...13&postcount=1 in that my upper wishbone brackets stick out a bit so won't these fail the radius tests?

The area around the wishbones is exempt under the revision that i studied, although this may have been revised again.
|
Oh right, why is it considered except? And is this how cars with just a large square section cut out for the wishbones & steering to pass through instead of circle holes for each bone etc get through?

Ya I'm aware of the need for covers on the bolts, it was more the wishbone & shock brackets I'm worried about.

the way i understand it is the iva man uses a gauge what looks like a ball cut in half of a set radius/size and only where it touches bits and bobs on the car are the parts that need a radius on if that makes sence.
but to be safe you need to read the latest version of the iva manual |

In true locost fashion use one of these as a gauge. Anywhere you can touch with that ball on the exterior has to have the rad. Simples. Bob:) |
Heh that's a good way to check Bob :) I'll have to get something like that to check everywhere and hopefully my front upper wishbone & shock mounts won't be touchable because of the bones being in the way. If not I guess my best bet is to just take a dremel/file to the brackets to try and get the 2.5mm radius?
