2Gether insurance come up trumps today. £110!!!! limited to 5000miles thought it would be more like £250ish so was really surprised.

Garaged?

Etc..

AshG 10th February 2010 12:06 PM

yep 0 no claims as I use them on the tin top. alarmed garage, age 26, no convictions.

Unfortunatly if you dump the tin top then your kit car/historic car insurance will jump up by close to £1000!! well that's what happened to me when I tried it.
The kit car insurance is effectively 'piggy backed' on to your tin top. It states Zero ncd but they actually use your current ncd for your main car as the kit car is seen as additional and not being used every day. As soon as the kit car becomes the main car it gets insured as such and the premium goes through the roof.....

Thats never happened with any historic / sports car I've owned. They've always been on a separate policy with a separate company to my daily drive.

yes this is a completely separate policy. they said over the phone i cannot under any circumstances use my tintop ncd.

and just to sweeten it a bit more they have mailed through the policy documents and they have managed to knock another £10 off

so all in that's £100!!

Lets see how much it will cost me once my car is finished :D, I bet it will be at least 4 times that amount. The joys of being a young driver

just call them now and they will give you a quote. dont forget to mention locost builders as that will get you an extra few pennies off

There's definately some good deals out there if you shop about.

Similar story with my Transit tipper ( Yea I know it isn't a Roadster :D )

Most of the insurers would only accept no claims earnt on a commercial policy

Gladiator, Mirrored the maximum no claims entitlement being used on my daily driver.

After the first year the renewal notice showed maximum, earnt commercial no claims disscount. :)

This left me free to shop about, I managed to get a Direct line commercial policy with a named driver + unrestricted carrige of own goods & goods associated with my son's roofing buisnes ....... All for the princely sum of £146 TP + F&T
The above is not conditional on me owning another vehicle !!

Shop about folks ;)
