Hub Nut Socket Size

I think its the hub nut anyway. Its the massive nuts in the middle of the rear drums (HandyAndy very kindly picked up and dropped off the majority of my donor parts on saturday)

Would anyone be able to tell me the socket size required to remove them? Also what would be the best way to remove them bearing in mind the rear sub assembly (no idea if thats wat its actually called) has been removed from the donor.

What can i say, im new to this game and you have to start somewhere :D. So feel free to correct me on anything, any help will be much appreciated :D

An impact gun made short work of mine but if you dont have one a nice long bar on the end of you socket will be just as good :D

Some heat on the nut always helps too if you start to struggle.

Im sure you probably know this but just incase, dont forget the passenger side has a left handed thread! i say dont forget because i did! so spent 10mins scratching head thinking why wont it come off :D then i remembered.

I think i was just caught up the moment, i enjoyed taking my sierra to pieces a bit too much.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to where to get the socket from? Ebay seems to be bringing up stupid prices like £25 just for the socket

I've had to buy myself a new breaker bar after bending mine twice trying to take some other nuts off  This one has a lifetime guarantee tho so i should be sorted :D

flyerncle 5th October 2009 06:18 PM

I have one and a 3/4 drive bar !!!!

Tatey 5th October 2009 06:29 PM
