ZX6R Air Filter

Which air filter have people used on ZX6R carbs? I'm sure I've heard of the sausage/dome ones being used like PX5/6 series but can anyone advise which one fits best and which back plate to use? Or alternatively if there's something else that fits well and is a bit cheaper but doesn't kill the performance?

I tried using a pipercross dome filter and it just touches the bonnet, not ideal so think I am going to fabricate an inlet duct which bolts to the carbs. I was using a CVH engine but guess the clearnance depends on how long the pipes on your manifild are.

The filter wants to be ducted with cold air so ideally needs to be in an air box.

So would using the pipercross ones with a hole cut in bonnet work best as I'm guessing the air inside the engine bay will be too hot even when the car is in motion?

These can look good on the side of the bonnet and will push plenty of cold air into the air filter:

Thats a good idea, so would it work to just position a scoop directly above one of these http://www.pipercross.net/competitio...ucts_px500.asp ?

Not ideal to have the filter out in the breeze as gets too much air and even gets wet.....filter wants to be in a box then cold air ducted through it. It's nonsense when folk say you have to ram air into the carbies as they can only take so much before turbulence cocks everything up.
