It's working!

Hi,
I'm a very happy guy tonight because I could manage to start my engine up!
I never saw this engine running before, because when I bought the donor car one year ago, it was not working (oil sump was broken among other things). Now, with some work (engine mounts, shorten aly sump TIG welded, cooling system, fuel lines, reconnecting the loom, etc.), it finally started up:

It is a big step for me, but it is still a long way before I finish my build.

I wanted to start the engine up now to be sure it was working before going further: next step will be the fist inspection. I think I already mentioned it on this forum, but here is Sweden, we have two inspections by SFRO (equivalent of the English IVA). For the first inspection, the chassis has to be unpainted, no weld should be ground, fuel tank fitted and secured, brakes installed, chassis on wheels with suspension and ground clearance adjusted, as well as gearbox and egine in place, but not obligatory working. However, I thought it would be good to make sure it does, even though it was extra work and time. Now it does, so I'm very happy!

Now I have to save money for the inspection (650€, as you pay the whole inspection process upfront). It will leave me some time to put back the car on wheels and make it presentable for the inspection (and update my build blog as well :p ).

After the inspection, I will have to undo everything to sandblast and paint the chassis, wishbones and roll-bar, and then reassemble everything again, definitively that time, I hope.

It is a big victory for me, but I also want to dedicate this moment to all of you, because without the help I've got on this forum since two years, I couldn't have done anything.

So, thanks to you all :)

Way to go Syl...way to go, magic is it not when it first fires or even coughs come to that..... "Kind of Magic" (Queen) starts to reverberate through your inner thoughts.......then you switch the ignition off and get back to work.:D :D

Sounds like your test it much harder than ours. Your engine sounds so sweet. I sometimes wish I had a newer engine, however my challenge was to make the old beast fit in the chassis.

Thank you very much for all the comments guys.

But I am not going to leave you alone, I am making a new thread on the engine section to ask more questions :D
