Post URL, engine type and size, and gearbox type. 2. To add information where "??" (indicates unknown) is shown. 3. If any links need correcting i.e. are incorrect or have become dead. 4. Point out any other errors/omissions 5. Suggest improvements Above the following line will be kept current as we get more information on diaries and galleries. Below the following line is my original post that started the thread. ---------------------------------------------------------------- I, now and again, have a trawl of the Internet for Haynes Roadster build diaries. To have a read of what others are doing and to look at pictures of their builds. I have also learnt a lot from Ash's build in CKC, and find reading and seeing other's builds an inspiration and good for picking up tips too. I have two here: Beardy John - http://www.beardyjohn.com/index.html Diary of a Roadster (Kit Car) - http://www.tamarisktechnicals.com/pages/roadster.html The first seems to be dorment, no recent posts The second is very comprehensive Maybe forum members might like to post links to other Haynes Roadster builders' diaries that they've found on this thread, then we can build up a list of diaries. I'd be happy to colate the thread now and again so as all the links are in a single post. I've also come across some very comprehensive Locost build diaries, from stripping the donor to IVA, should we include these, or try and make it Haynes only? What do you think? P.S. Just found owner of Tamarisk Technicals site - after having a crusie round Locost Builders, it's AdrianH! |

I try and take pics of some of the less interesting bits so may be of use to some builders. High quality copies of any of the pics available on request (in total I got 1.2gb of pics of the build!!) Cheers Dave |
I have just started one, Nothing to see yet though, but thought I had best post up to keep me moving :D
Planning on using 1.8 cvh http://headshotsroadster.blogspot.co...1_archive.html |

Mine is in my signature, however it doesn't get updates as often as I'd like, as I post more in this thread:

Ginge and i decided this is worth making a sticky in the announcements section as there is some good resources for all builders.
|
I think it would be even more helpful if all the links listed which engine the build is using next to the name of the person whose diary it is.
This would help other builders find engine/gearbox specific information more easily than having to read each diary until they find it. |
Both good ideas.
If you're on the list already let already let me know what engine you are using (type and size), and I'll add it in, and I'll tidy up some of the ugly URLs as well while I'm at it. If you want to be on the list, URL, engine type and size please. Anyone found any non-member build diaries for Haynes Roadster that can be added? Also, do we want links to Locost build diaries or not (in a seperate section)? What do people think? |
eSteve,
I am using the 1.8 CVH from the donor Cheers Ginge |
lets just keep it to roadsters for now and see how many we get :D
|
Ok, my build is based around an I4 2.0 DOHC engine mated to an MT75 5 speed box.

Mine is a 1.8 Pinto from the donor

If you let me know I can add it in with the next update. P.S. If you're are wondering why I'm idling my time on here in the day and not at work, it's 'cos I'm on holiday for the week! I've been clearing out the garage (for the third time) ready to start on my build. Earlier on in the week I welded up a welding cart, to get some welding practice in, just needs some hooks welded on for cables and the torch then painting. Next on to building the build table. Bought some trestles via eBay for £5. The metal type that builders use. Was going to use wood for the build table legs but will use the trestles now and rest/attached a stiffened bit of ply to the top. The trestles are high but I think this will be good as I won't have to bend down to work. So back to the garage... or maybe just sit in the garden.... |
eSteve,
A sterling job you are doing. I am using a type 9 attached to my 1.8 CVH I am guessing that’s what the ?? Where for.:D Building the bits that you need to build the car is as rewarding as ploughing on with the build. Cheers Ginge |
My piccies are on my signiture. Using BMW318 donnor.

Oooh, very nice. I wish we could get away with a dashboard like that.
|
Thanks for the compliment, I would have assumed that you could do the same kind of style over there, in fact probably better because of the easier access to vintage looking switch gear.
Of course I could be type casting on old assumptions based on the British TV shows we get over here. Maybe old British TV shows:rolleyes: Also to be honest I haven't been through certification yet, so I dont know at this stage whether I will have any problems. Most Hot Rod dashes are similiar so it should be ok. Al |
