Engine position (Zetec)

I'm fitting a 2L zetec and type 9 and fabbed up my mounts last week. I was hoping to fit a new gearbox mount this weekend.

I wanted the motor as far back as I could so I've cut out the top rail and welded one on behind it so I'd have room for the original thermostat housing.

When the gearstick and reverse switch are in the right place I'm finding there's not a lot of space between the footwell plate and the clutch arm. So much so that I've tacked the engine mounts on with the engine about 3/4" off centre at the front. Anyone see a problem having it off the centre line? The tail of the box is in line widthways and heightwise with the diff flange.
