Drag link nut covers

As per the title.

Just wondering what people have covered the drag link lock nuts with to pass the radius test.

Thanks

Gus

Hi Gus

Most folk have used heat shrink sleeve on them.

That said, I belive that was one of the sticking points during Ash's IVA

I guess you wouldn't go far wrong if you popped into an electrical store & picked up some cable sleeves.

Forget what they are called .... The plasic sleeves that are usually found on armoured cable where it enters a equipment enclosure.

Should be able to find one in a size that is a nice snug fit :)

Your car is looking great, looking forward to seeing it in the flesh  :)

Glands.

I was thinking about cable glands, as I used some on my rack extensions. I'll have to go in the electric suppliers and see what they have got. Pain having to take the front suspension apart again!!

Oh well.

Bonzo you coming up to Exeter this year then?

Thanks

Gus

Split rubber tube around the nut and held in place with cable clips went through IVA (Leighton Buzzard) recently with no comment.

Gland's that's the fellas :o :o

I guess a small rubber boot would also do the job .... Something similar to the ones fitted to the Escort/Fiesta Gearbox selector shaft ?

Ash's tester wanted to see a covering similar to something that resembled a factory fitted part

I do know that other cars have passed IVA with the usual shrinktube or rubber sleeve held on by wire ties

I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be well enough to travel up to Exeter this year Gus :)

I'm going to try electrical amalgamating tape, it's quite thick and covers well and doesn't come off easily.

I'll give it a try and see what happens:)

I was thinking that, or sillicone tape.

Ash may correct me, but the tester said that the covering should be removeable for checking and adjustment of the nut without damage to the covering.

The inspector could not check the nut without damage and the car would then fail on no cover.

I think ???

So if people have used heat shrink (ie for steering rack), I take it they haven't shrunk it?????

Just asking and looking for solutions - getting to that stage.
